Lay your head down.....

Well in between sorting through the piles of junk we seem to have accumulated, and cleaning children's rooms, washing linen, and trying to work the logistics out of our move to the UK in Feb, as well as caring for the 7 kids we have here at the moment (2 nieces), I managed last night to squeeze in a couple of pages of Where Eagles Sore (by Jamie Buckingham).

My friend Rae was right, this little read is exactly for me right now. It certainly sums up a lot of what has been happening in my life the past year and will continue to happen this year as we move.

May I share a quote with you?

... "Bit by bit these things need to be taken away until we become like Jesus, with no place to lay our heads. Foxes have holes, birds have nests, but the man true man of God has no place to lay his head but on the bosom of the Father. Places- geographical places- are necessary for service. But not for security."...

Where is your head at rest today?

Is it in your dreams? Your expectations? Do you feel crushed under the weight of the reality of your life? Maybe for you right now life is a bit cushy and comfortable or maybe you can deeply identify with David who cried out to the Lord from the very depths of brokenness and heartache. Or like me you are learning to soar like an eagle when I really want to run around like a chook with it's head cut off in the chaos that has suddenly become my life.

Then take a moment to lay your head down on your Father's chest. Feel Him breath and let the warm of his exhalation breathe over you. Listen to the beat of His heart, and stay there until your heart has matched His pace and you are beating in unison. Let Him soothe you, cry His tears over you, chuckle at your stories, dry your tears, rub balm into the cuts and lesions of your life. Let Him speak the 'Olam' wisdom over you, the wisdom of the ancient paths, soak in His words to you, His promises, heed His warnings and discipline as He speaks tenderly to you.

And let today be the day He becomes your security.... your strong tower, the place where you lay down your head.
