A dear friend of mine left a book on my kitchen table the other day. The cover is starting to tater at the corners, it has crease prints throughout and the pages are well and truly and orange shade of brown. The price sticker on the front nearly faded, but not quite enough to stop me from knowing it was purchased a good while ago.
She had told my son it was one of those out of print books, but she thought I might like to read it.
Where Eagles Soar by Jamie Buckingham.
Let me encourage you with a quote from this aging book....
..."you must recognize you are an eagle, not a grasshopper. Then you must be willing to cooperate with God, to put yourself in takeoff position for God to fill-and send you soaring. To remain on your nest when the storm blows is disastrous. Your only hope is to launch out in faith against all insurmountable obstacles, lock your wings and let God do the rest".
What does God in store for you in 2008?
How will you choose to respond?
The eagle doesn't sit on his nest in the storm waiting for his rescue. He mounts the wind and rises above the storm.... literally. He soars over it!
His wings locked together in glorious flight, right under the nose of God.
Will you allow the winds of God to send you soaring this year, no matter where life finds you?
Let's encourage each other to keep above the storms of life, flying high with all our troubles and cares below.
I know I am certainly going to need reminding.....
